Sutil expects to keep Force India seat

F1 News - Latest F1 News

Adrian Sutil says he has not yet finalised a new deal with Force India but is optimistic that he will stay on at the squad. The German has been with the the team for three years, having joined at the start of 2007 when it was still known as Spyker.
"Nothing is confirmed yet, I've got an option with this team and we'll talk about it very soon," said Sutil. Although he acknowledged that the team's recent surge from the back to the front of the field could make it an in-demand destination for out of contract drivers, he is confident he has done enough to earn a fourth season with the squad.

"That's normal for a successful team, but I think I have quite good a chance for another season here," said Sutil. "The team is happy with my work, I'm very happy with them, so I'm quite relaxed at the moment. Let's see what's going on, there are four more races to go and my focus is to perform really well and show my best side."

Sutil added that he had been having the time of his life since Force India made its big step up in form.

"It's so much fun to be there at the front and suddenly racing against all the big guys," he said. "I've been waiting a long time and so has my team - it's really nice to achieve your goal."

Force India's huge improvement came when the championship moved to the high speed tracks of Spa and Monza, but Sutil is optimistic that the car will just be as competitive on the twists of Singapore this weekend.

"It's a different circuit compared to Monza, a high downforce circuit, but I think we're going to be up there," he said. "We have a new package on the car that should help us a lot, but also there will be more teams at the front, so it's going to be tight, but I have a good feeling that our car is going to perform well."
