Williams optimistic about new parts

Friday, 14 May 2010 12:22

Neither Rubens Barrichello nor Nico Hulkenberg broke into the top ten in today's sessions, but both were pleased with the car's performance with its new rear wing.
"I had the new rear wing assembly this morning, Nico this afternoon," Barrichello explained.
"It looks promising and I hope to be a touch more competitive than some previous weekends.
"I'm looking forward to Saturday."
Hulkenberg agreed that Williams had cause for optimism.
"It feels like we've made a gain with the new aero parts, the rear wing definitely provides more grip," he said.
The team's technical direcctor Sam Michael said that both drivers will get the full new package for the rest of the weekend, and is aiming for a double Q3 presence based on the initial results from the upgrade.
"We currently have only one new rear wing assembly so Rubens ran it in the morning and Nico in the afternoon," said Michael.
"The second will arrive in time for third practice and will stay on the cars for qualifying and the race.
"We covered a lot of set-up work with Rubens and Nico which has given us plenty of data to study before Saturday.
"Our target for qualifying is to get both cars into the top ten."
