Yamamoto retains seat for Hungary

Wednesday, 28 July 2010 11:53

Japanese driver Yamamoto has competed in the last two grands prix for the Spanish-based outfit, replacing Senna in Britain and then Chandhok last week in Germany, and looked set for further appearances with the date of Chandhok’s return not being revealed.
On Tuesday afternoon Yamamoto was duly named alongside Senna in Hispania’s Hungaroring preview and the Japanese driver is looking forward to his first experience of the twisty circuit in an F1 car since 2007.
“I can’t wait to go back to the Hungaroring as I know the circuit already very well from my Formula 1 races with Super Aguri, Spyker F1 and with ART in GP2 series," the Japanese said.
“The races there are always very tough because there is no big gap between the corners.
“You need a good braking stability and good traction on the car. I keep on pushing for another challenge and I hope that we are luckier than in Hockenheim.”
After running respectably close to Chandhok at Silverstone, Yamamoto trailed the returning Senna by a much greater margin around Hockenheim and retired from the race on lap 19 with a gearbox problem.ITV-F1
